Thoughts from the road...
I write you all from the road (both physically and metaphorically), currently in Salt Lake City, on tour with Roy English and 5 Seconds of Summer. The last few days have been a dream come true. Seeing the joy on the faces of the crowd, getting to play arenas and amphitheaters at Summertime; it's everything I've been dreaming of since I picked up the bass at age 12.
It seems like it took an eternity to get to this point in my career, and even now I see this as a step... a milestone, yes, but not a destination. This is just another chapter. There's a risk and danger in that perspective. I deem it rather healthy to view yourself as ever-progressing, never-arriving...but how to do that and still soak up every ounce of joy in each chapter as possible? That's a new trick I'm learning.
These Summer dream days are picking up speed exponentially. So, I write this journal entry as almost a necessary pause, to stop and smile and say "thank you."
Thanks to my parents, who put up with countless hours of loud fumblings on basses, guitars, drums, and keys in basement. For putting up with me learning how to sing...over years...publicly haha. For telling me to keep at it when I couldn't pay rent, or had watched another potentially huge break fall through, knowing that their advice would be the opposite of every parent's instinct to keep their kids happy and safe.
I want to thank anyone who has "liked" a photo or song, shared anything on social media, or listened to anything I've ever released. From strangers to my sisters, to old and new friends alike. Your encouragement is fuel. Your joy is my purpose. Your good vibes and thoughts and efforts never go unnoticed or unappreciated.
And Thank You, God... for Your timing, Your ways, and not mine. My wants are fleeting, but Your ways are good.
I'm not there yet. I have not arrived. But, man, this journey is all I have, and I couldn't ask for more.
I hope you all are enjoying "L.A. Nights"...Stay tuned for the debut album release, FIRST KISS, this September!
